Her name gained international attention and admiration for presenting the world with one of its most memorable events in the history of sport - scoring the first-ever perfect ten on asymmetric bars, at the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. To top it off the six perfect tens. She also became the most youthful Olympic silver medalist. The dazzling Nadia Comaneci did more than draw the attention of others, but she also helped Romania gain a global presence. By achieving a feat that was unattainable she became a legend and promoted gymnastics throughout the world. Also, it changed the way people think about female athletes. Such was her impact during this Olympics that the uneven bars competition is named for two of the moves after her toe-on and release, both of which are, till date, classified as high-level and level. Apart from the Olympics the gymnast showed remarkable performance at the World Championships and European Championships and was subsequently an icon as well as one of the most well-known gymnasts the world could ever be privileged to. In the US she also tried to market sporting goods and models following her departure from her home country.
